Through musical instrument donations from pawnbrokers across the country, The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation and Musical Instrument Gift Day are making music one donation at a time.
On December 6, 2013, the National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA) is celebrating its fifth annual Musical Instrument Gift Day, where pawnbrokers from around the country make generous donations of musical instruments to organizations in need. Learn more at GiftDay.org.
Last year, Gift Day worked with The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation to donate funds and new and gently used musical instruments to Rowan Middle School in Jackson Mississippi. The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation is a non-profit organization that donates both new and quality refurbished instruments to under-funded music programs that lack the resources to keep up with equipment loss, and accommodates students on waiting lists or who have to share instruments.
This year, MHOF has identified Lee High School in Huntsville, Alabama as a school in need of assistance. The school's instruments are decades old and they are in dire need of replacing many of them.
Through the generous gifts of NPA members, Lynise Little, Music Director for Rowan Middle School, was able to bring the band program back to life for students in grades 6 through 8.
Due to the overwhelming success of the partnership with The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, Musical Instrument Gift Day will be working with the organization again this year. NPA members will have the opportunity to make a cash or instrument donation directly to The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation or to be used for a deserving school the foundation deems in need.
This year, there are two ways to donate:
1. You can ship high-quality, pre-owned (or new) musical instruments directly to The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation.
2. Make cash donations directly to The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation on behalf of the NPA Gift Day and your contribution will be converted to musical instruments.
Donating instruments or funds is tax deductible and is a great way to support the NPA’s outreach efforts while promoting a positive image of the pawn industry. Visit the sign up page to make a difference and donate today.
NPA Musical Instrument Gift Day would like to highlight the great work that pawnbrokers are doing in their communities. We know that NPA members often hold their own musical instrument donation drives at various times throughout the year.
This year, the NPA would like to highlight your musical instrument gift drives. Please send a detailed summary of your donation drive along with all of your photographs to info@GiftDay.org, and we'll post them on the website and share with the world all of charitable work that is being done by pawnbrokers like you!
