Pawnbrokers Give the Gift of Music This Holiday Season
Pawnbrokers Nationwide Donate Musical Instruments on December 6, 2014 for Musical Instrument Gift Day
On December 6, 2014, the National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA) is celebrating Musical Instrument Gift Day, where pawnbrokers from around the country make generous donations of musical instruments to organizations in need.
Pawn shops across the country will donate desperately needed musical instruments to deserving local schools, veterans organizations and other groups in need. Musical Instrument Gift Day is held on December 6th in celebration of National Pawnbrokers Day, which coincides with St. Nicholas Day.
Pawnbroking is as old as Santa Claus. Actually, it’s much older. St. Nicholas of Myra lived in the 4th century A.D. Pawn shops can be traced even further back in ancient history. In fact, the three bags of gold St. Nicholas gave to save a family from a life of servitude became the universal symbol for pawnbroking, three golden coins, and Ole Saint Nick is now the Patron Saint of Pawnbrokers.
Musical Instrument Gift Day began in 2009 and has since worked with esteemed organization, including The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, Wings For Warriors and Boys & Girls Clubs of America to bring music into the lives of those who need it most.
